Abstract
Schmidt’s syndrome is a rare multiple cranial nerve disease which involves X and XIth cranial nerves and is characterized by unilateral paralysis of soft palate, vocal cord, sternocleidomastoid and trapezius muscles. The underlying etiology of the disease is unknown. It may be confused with other multiple cranial nerve lesion syndromes located in medulla oblongata. The differential diagnosis should include an extensive cranial nerve examination. In this article, we present a 21-year-old male case of Schmidt's syndrome who was admitted with hoarseness in the light of literature data.
