Abstract
In this case report we emphasize that pleomorphic adenoma rarely seen in submandibular salivary gland may have malignancy potential. A 37-year-old male patient was admitted to our clinic, with a complaint of increased swelling in the right submandibular region for one month. Physical and radiological examination revealed a mass of 2¥2 cm located in the right submandibular salivary gland. Mass excision was performed together with the right submandibular salivary gland. The patient’s pathology was reported as focal, intratubular, in situ carcinoma on the surface of pleomorphic adenoma. No additional treatment was given to the patient and there were no symptoms of recurrence at the six-month follow-ups. In cases of pleomorphic adenoma located in the submandibular salivary gland, patients should be followed regularly due to the malignancy potential.
