Abstract

If hypertrophic scar tendencies, collagen, vascular and connective tissue diseases are not inquired in detail preoperatively, keloid may develop. In this article, we report an 11-year-old male patient who admitted to our clinic when bilateral keloid developed after an autoplasty which was performed due to prominent ear deformity three months ago at a private center. The patient had no personal or familial history of collagen tissue disease or keloid formation. After dermatological consultation, the patient was administered intralesional corticosteroid injection, and the treatment was sustained until keloid formation disappeared and symptoms were completely eliminated. Patients particularly in puberty period and older patients should be carefully monitored in terms of keloid formation and regularly checked during the first year.
