Abstract
Microtia reconstruction requires patience, careful attention to fine details, and a good understanding of the auricular anatomy. The fact that this surgery is performed at a relatively young age and the child continues to grow after reconstruction is the most important point to take into consideration in the reconstruction of this defect. The microtia surgeon should have comprehensive knowledge on microtia classifications, reconstructive options, possible complications, and their preventions. Only with this knowledge it is possible to create a normal sized auricula with sufficient projection and intricate curvatures. In this review, you will find general information regarding microtia, and the method I use for the reconstruction of this defect.
