Abstract

Acute epiglottitis is a rarely seen, but life-threatening otorhinolaryngological emergency. Differential diagnosis of epiglottis abscess and epiglottis cyst infection as a complication of acute epiglottis does not affect the treatment plan. Both conditions respond to conservative treatment in the absence of airway stenosis. Airway control is the most critical step in a patient with suspected epiglottitis. In this article, we report a 35-year-old male case who was treated for acute epiglottitis with symptomatic relief, but, was diagnosed with an epiglottis cyst during repeated endoscopic examination and then operated.
