Abstract
Osteomas are benign, slow-growing tumors of the paranasal sinuses which are often asymptomatic and diagnosed incidentally. Frontal sinus is the most commonly affected site, followed by ethmoid, maxillary and sphenoid sinuses. In many cases paranasal sinus osteomas are asymptomatic; however, symptoms which are clinically evident are often related to the location and size of the tumor and its extent to the surrounding tissues. Computed-tomography is the gold standard in the diagnosis of osteomas. In parallel with the recent advances in endoscopic sinus surgery and its techniques, transnasal endoscopic approach has become more popular in the treatment of osteomas. In this article, we report two cases of etmoid sinus osteoma which were diagnosed incidentally during the preoperative evaluation before septoplasty and recent advances in endoscopic sinus surgery of paranasal sinus osteomas are discussed in the light of literature.
