Abstract
Schwannomas are the benign nerve sheath tumors group, and can be seen in many locations of the body as central or peripheral pathologies. Morphological and radiological findings of Schwannomas may vary depending on the localization. In this article we presented a Schwannoma case, which is mimicking carotid body tumor in 21-year-old male patient. The patient was suspected with a carotid body tumor preoperatively and digital subtraction angiography embolization was performed. However, the postoperative pathological diagnosis was reported as an ancient Schwannoma. In conclusion, despite the advanced imaging tools and a detailed preoperative planning, one should be prepared for the possibility of an unexpected diagnosis during or after the operation.
